Ford is proud of its new 2018 Ford Escape and its brother the Ford Edge because they are great SUVs with plenty of things to like about each. As compact to mid-size vehicles they offer many features to attract buyers that are looking for something in the crossover vehicle category. Not only will you find comfort and convenience when driving one of these, the cost to own is reasonable as well. Here is a comparison of the two vehicles.
Most of us enjoy it when they are able to do whatever they want with a vehicle. The 2018 Ford Edge and the 2018 Ford Escape perform well when put to the test. Although the Edge has a bit more horsepower than the Escape, they have similar towing capacity. In terms of taking your boat and other toys along with you for various activities, you won’t go wrong buying either of these.
At first glance it is easy to see what is different between the 2018 Ford Edge and its sibling the 2018 Ford Escape. It’s clear that the Edge is bigger and the Escape lacks some of the muscle, but they are both very impressive to look at. However, they do bare a family resemblance having the same grille, with the Edge standing a bit taller and commanding more of the road. Although the cabin in the Edge is a bit more spacious with 39.2 cubic feet, Escape has nothing to be ashamed of because it still has 34 cubic feet of space to brag about.
You’ll find luxury galore on the 2018 Ford Edge with its premium quality upholstery and Ford’s noise reduction techniques which make it a nicer ride. Depending on the edition you choose, you could have a Sync 3 Touchscreen with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. On the SE edition you can have a rearview camera, audio display screen and push-button start. You can add dual zone climate control, power-adjustable seats and EasyFold rear seats when you choose the SEL edition. For even more luxury the Sport and Titanium editions include touches of leather with the Sport adding suede in the seats to increase comfort.
You won’t find as many premium features on the Escape, but the Titanium and SEL editions do offer leather upholstery and Sony 10-speaker System.
The federal crash testers have awarded both the 2018 Ford Edge and the 2018 Ford Escape the 5-star safety designation and that means a lot when driving family or friends around. They both are equipped with crash avoidance features such as blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, drowsiness monitoring, lane departure alert and with the available mitigation braking system the chances of a rear end collision is greatly reduced.
Both the Ford Edge and its little brother the Ford Escape are capable of handling parking situations with ease using the Park Assist feature.
